Windy dry conditions today into tonight with wind advisories and
Red Flag warnings in place. Decreasing winds Sunday. A chance of
light rain or showers mainly over the mountains mid week.
Otherwise dry conditions through the end of next week.

Strong winds will continue through the afternoon. The winds will
gradually decrease this evening with a chance they may stay up
stronger for an hour or so longer over parts of the west side of
the Sacramento Valley and down into the Northern San Joaquin
Valley. Breezy conditions are expected overnight along the west
side of the valley. Gusty northeast to east winds will continue
overnight over portions of the western slopes with the favored
canyon/ridges getting gusts up around 45 mph or higher.

Northerly winds will be lighter on Sunday as the high pressure
ridge builds over the region and surface pressure gradients
lighten up.

A weak system will move through the region Tuesday night and
Wednesday and may be able to bring several inches of snow to the
mountains with minimal amounts of rain to the valley. Colder air
moving over the region may keep daytime highs in the 50s for the
valley to the 30s for the mountains on Wednesday.

Confidence is improving that a cold upper trough from the Gulf of
Alaska will move through the region on Wednesday bringing the
potential for showers, mainly for the foothills and mountains.
Precipitation is expected to be minimal. Gusty north winds will
likely develop through the Central Valley in its wake later next

VFR conditions next 24 hours. Storng northerly winds in the
Central Valley 20-30 kts with gusts 30-40 kts through 2z Sunday,
decreasing to 10-20 kts gusts up to 25 kts through 6z Sunday.
